Frequently asked questions

Does the AI make up prices? Where do the amounts in the quote come from?
No. Prices come only from your price list and your own discount-per-customer-group and margin rules — computed deterministically in code, not by the model. The AI only picks the right item from the catalog; a human approves every quote before it’s sent.
How is this different from quoting in Excel?
Excel doesn’t read the customer’s request, doesn’t search your manufacturer catalog, and doesn’t enforce discount rules — you do it all by hand and make repeatable mistakes. OferIQ decodes the email, hits a part number in the catalog and computes the price automatically, while you just check and send.
How is this different from an ERP or enterprise CPQ (SAP, Salesforce CPQ)?
Heavy CPQ assumes you already have a configured catalog with prices and takes months to roll out. OferIQ ingests requests in natural language, imports the price list from PDF, and has a built-in supplier price-inquiry loop — deployment in days, at SMB pricing, not an enterprise contract.
Will it work if I don’t have a modern ERP or a catalog API?
Yes. We don’t need an integration — we import manufacturer price lists straight from PDF files (part numbers, prices, dimensions, variants). It’s designed for distributors who don’t have a machine-readable catalog.
What does onboarding look like and how fast will I be live?
Onboarding is done manually: we structure your catalog from the price lists, tune matching on your real requests, run a pilot on selected customers, and then expand to the whole catalog. You start on a sample, so you see the result before rolling everything out.
Will it replace my salespeople?
No — it replaces the manual grind: decoding emails, hunting for items in PDFs, retyping prices. Judgment and the relationship stay with the salesperson, who checks and sends the quote — they just handle a much larger volume of requests in the same time.
